Cat wanting in and out of house constantly

We have a torty cat that’s nearly three years old. She has just started wanting to go in and out thirty times a night. Why would this be?

Assuming that she is spayed it could be that there is another cat around and she is patrolling her territory, that she has found something interesting to watch, it is raining and she wants to be outside but not to get wet, or a hundred other reasons! If it is very recent and sudden and she does not use an indoor tray I would get her checked for cystitis - that could certainly have her desperate to get out very frequently. If she is not spayed I would assume she is in season...

Tilly-cat is in and out all night. I long since gave up on trying to stop her hunting at night, so she has a cat flap that is never locked and my bedroom door is always ajar.
