Stray kitten advice

Hello!
A stray cat had a kitten in our garden, we are planning on keeping kitten. He is 4-5 weeks old and has been living with his mum under a bush in our garden since he was born. I’ve had cats all my life but never a new kitten.
I took him to the vet yesterday to get checked out and all is fine, he has had flea and worm treatment. The vet recommended starting to try and wean him now and bringing him inside a lot.
But I caught another stray (male) cat who hangs around our garden a lot attacking and trying to mate with the kitten, so I have brought him inside.
My questions are:
- should I keep the kitten inside permanently now?
- should I try bottle feeding him until he’s weaned?
- does he need to see his mum? I don’t want to leave him outside in case he is hurt
