Please Help! Syringe Feeding: Maine Coon Cat
Please Help! Syringe Feeding: Maine Coon Cat
My 18-year-old Maine Coon cat has squamous cell carcinoma. We have been syringe feeding him and he has been responding well. All of the sudden he has been lifting his paw up when we feed him. Why is he doing this all of the sudden? He has never done this before. Thank you in advance!

Could it be that feeding has become uncomfortable for him, or perhaps he is feeling nauseous? A lifted paw is often a sign of mild protest, as you know, especially if he is trying to push your hand away.

Wrap him in a thick bath towel, or small duvet, paws inside. and maybe fit a soft silicone feed teat with large enough hole cut, to end of syringe, so not hurting his mouth.
