Congestive heart failure

Post by sbooks22 »

So my sweet boy Jay (who is almost 11) had what the vet thought was asthma, we started the Flovent inhaler and he got worse over the two weeks following. Took him to the emergency vet yesterday and he spent the night in the ICU. He got to come home now and is stable and doing okay (though quite high on the pain meds yet). The specialist doesn’t have an opening until close to 6 weeks from now to do the echocardiogram, but the regular vet is calling to see if she can get him bumped up sooner. I guess I’m really just looking for encouragement from anyone who has gone through this, or where they’ve gotten their kitty onto the right meds and made it through this stretch of unknowns and hoping.

I’m already pretty heartbroken that we went from asthma (with the thought that it can be pretty well managed for usual lifespan) to congestive heart failure, so am just kind of looking for some hope to cling to.
