Male cat UTI and vomiting

So worried about my cat, he had a UTI many years ago and was fine afterwards. He is 12 years old.
But since Saturday he has been vomiting which I thought was the usual hairballs (there has been some hair in this) then today I placed kitchen roll in his box and noticed blood on it, so another UTI
Booked into vets tomorrow however is it normal to vomit with a UTI, no other symptoms, eating a bit hit and miss hence m placing the kitchen roll under the litter.
