Cat Chat Feline Forum

Hi folks, just joined the forum & would like to run a problem past fellow owners. We have a long-haired six year old tom that's the most placid creature you could even hope to meet, both with humans & other cats alike & has no vices bar one! When unsuccessful in attracting our attention (ie fancies breakfast & we are both still asleep) he will scratch at the carpet, either in the same room as us or elsewhere in the home. Thankfully he never takes out his frustration on any other household items (furniture/fabrics etc.) & does make regular use of his scratching pole, but although we have tried a couple of advertised 'anti-scratch' products, nothing thus far seems to have much effect & we would welcome any suggestions - many thanks in advance to all those reading this post.
