Hi I have two burmese cats Fergus and Myrtle, both are indoor cats. Fergus every now and then has a very messy diarrhoea, probably about once every three days. I'm assuming its down to being allergic to something he eats? They eat go cat indoors nuggets throughout the day and one whiskas food pouch between them every morning. Myrtle is fine and doesnt exhibit the diarrhoea, they both seem a healthy weight as well. Should I be thinking about changing to some other food diet? I've semi thought about it before having read bad reviews about the two products but the convenience and cost thing always outweighs switching. I don't have stacks of time to boil chickens etc as have just had a new born baby so have hardly any spare time, I want something relatively straight-forward and not massively expensive if its possible? I'd be keen to hear peoples thoughts.

Oh and just to add the vet has done tests and has confirmed its not a bug or anything and has actually told me its very likely to be something that hes eating

To be perfectly honest, GoCat is probably one of the worst dry foods you can feed and I would very much suspect that once you've removed that from their diet you'll notice a difference. Yes, GoCat does provide the nutrients needed and it is better than nothing but it also is very high in sugars, cereals, colourants etc.

I definitely would change the dry food to something better. Basically what you should look at is the list of ingredients; they are usually listed in order of whats most in the food. GoCat has cereals listed as their main ingredients which really isn't very good. Try and find something that has the meat content as a first ingredient. A good food to try is James Wellbeloved; you can get that in most pet stores such as Pets at Home. It will be more expensive but you'll also feed less.

Thanks thats the sort of boot up the a*s I think I need to get to move. One question though for you is something like the James Wellbeloved range suitable for house cats? Wary that I started off feeding the cats IAMS (probably another awful one! haha) and they seemed to balloon a bit! I assumed specific indoor cat food might be lower fat or something?

LOL, I think the thing with indoor cats is to feed according to what the ideal cat weight should be not what they actually weigh

I had an elderly cat with a dodgy tum and found the Purina One Sensitive (turkey and rice) was good for her. It's mid-range, not as 'good' as the James Wellbeloved, but a lot better than Go-Cat and pretty easy to get at most supermarkets.
