Vomiting 5.5 Month Old Kitten

Post by sharm22l »

My 5.5 month old neutered kitten is vomiting (white in color) and is extremely lethargic. His stool is normal and his gums are pink but dehydrated. He is showing no interest in food. His vaccines (including rabies) are up to date and he is an indoor cat. I don't know what to do - no food was left out and I can't think what he could have eaten if anything, and I'm worried that it's something more serious.

Sounds like a visit to the vets is in order. If you have a syringe keep giving the cat water down the throat to try and hydrate them. Maybe try a small bit of scrambled egg? But definitely get an emergency appt I'm sure there will be a vet open on a Sunday somewhere near you, pets at home have a vets that is open on a sunday.
Good luck

Definitely get him to a vet straight away. If he's dehydrated and lethargic and not eating, there's something seriously and acutely wrong. Cats are very good at hiding illness, so if he's got to this stage this shows he really is unwell. Speculating about what it could be and fiddling about trying to get small amounts of water or food into him is simply wasting time. He needs to go to the vet now. Please don't delay, as young cats can "crash" very suddenly when like this.

Looks like he swallowed a feather! It's out now, though, and he is significantly more energetic than he was last night. He's made a full recovery! Thanks for all your help, though!

That's good news, but I'd still get him checked out by a vet, just to sure. It may have scrached his throat.
