Cat in conservatory

Hi,

I rehomed a 18month old cat two days ago and I set up a safe room on her arrival which is the conservatory, she looks very comfortable in here and I intend this to be her permanent bedroom. The only problem I have is that when I decided this was going to be her safe room, I completely forgot about the noise the rain makes on the glass roof. So this morning when I got up to feed her it was raining and she was shaking in her bed. Is this noise one that she will eventually get used to and stop being scared of or should I make arrangements to move her? She's very comfortable here (except when it rains) so i'm a bit reluctant to move her now.

I suspect she will get used to it, but it would probably help if you could create an enclosed bed for her, where she would hear less and feel safer - a large cardboard box with a hole cut out and cushion inside, or a hooded litter tray, or even a blanket placed over the seat of a chair to create a cave underneath

Is it possible she also saw another cat/dog through the window, that may have frightened her just before you went in? Just a thought....

Later in the year, please bear in mind how hot it can get in the conservatory (seems a long way off at the moment!), or how cold it can get at night in the winter.

No I totally understand about the summer months, she will certainly be able to go in and out of the conservatory as she pleases!

the noise of the rain could be what frightened her - my Tiffany spent her nights in my neighbour's porch, which had a corrugated plastic roof, for her first 3 years, before I got my paws on her full time, and I can remember finding her in the morning hiding under a pile of blankets after particularly wet and windy nights, instead of waiting eagerly for me as usual
