Hi all,

I know there are a couple of threads linked to Diarrhoea in cats and I have taken the advice from them on board however, I have two boys Edgar and Clarence who have become fully fledged Cat flap users for about two weeks.

This morning I found some vomit on the carpet which i assumed to be Edgars because I caught him eating left of bolognese last night, (naughty kitty) however this afternoon Clarence had Diarrhoea but was still himself, he proceeded run around and play with Edgar after.

I did as I have read and gave Clarence boiled chicken for dinner tonight but about 20 mins later he had Diarrhoea again.

Am I right in thinking that he shouldn't have breakfast tomorrow in order to give his tummy time to settle? should I have not fed him tonight?

I assume that since they are now going out a lot that he ate something outside that he shouldn't have.

He still has an appetite and his behaviour has not changed at all so I am not too concerned, I will continue to monitor him and keep an eye on whether he becomes lethargic etc.

I would like to make him more comfortable and help him on his way to feeling better.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

a lot of young cats have d&v from time to time, and it's often difficult to pin down the cause - I'd go on with the chicken until it's cleared up, and white fish would be OK too

are they up to date with their worming though? if they are eating stuff outside it's something you'll need to keep up

Thanks for your response, thats a good point, they are up to date with their wormer as i wormed them last week, however you have reminded me that I need to put a reminder in my calendar to make sure I keep their worming up to date from now on . How often would you say that I need to worm them?

For outdoor cats I would say every couple of months or so. For a young kitten I would get the stuff from the vets only as they are the experts. I know it is more expensive but it is better to be safe than sorry. If you are not sure he has worms then you can check the poo and you will see little white wriggling things.
