Smelly Cat

Post by emmab »

A topic covered quite a bit on here I presume. One of our male cats is a little smelly atm. He has been done, but is a little smelly with his bottom. I know cats can have anal gland problems but all looks OK there, nothing enlarged so not sure whether this is an obvious problem which is not always obvious. Can anyone help please? It doesn't a fishy smell, but is just an odour. He has smelt like this before at times bit normally disappears after a few hours. Can male cats still produce odours even when they are done or is this likely to be anal glands? thank you in advance.

If it is still happening, I'd get your vet to have a look at him.

Is he overweight? Sometimes overweight cats can't get all the way round to wash their bums so get a bit smelly... Just a thought :)
