I don't know the answer, but it is in the back of my mind that the way a cat's eyes reflect light is significant, and I think you need to get it checked out by a vet

Yeah if his eyes always reflect differently no matter what angle you look at him then you do need to pop him along to the vet and have his eyes checked as it could be a sign of a problem. They should both appear the same when you shine a torch at them in the dark, although obviously that does depend on the angle. If his eyes look drastically different then it could be a sign of an underlying problem.

I agree. After her fight, Purdy looked like Bart (the'zombie cat in the news). The vet saved her eye, but she has little sight in it AND it reflects light in a totally different way to the other eye.

Best get it checked out.

Do his eyes always glow differently or only when taking photos' from a certain angle?

My Monty has one eye that glows back differently; I've never noticed it when taking a photo, only when he looks at you straight on, then his one eye has this odd hue to it. My vet referred me on to another vet who has specialist eye equipment and he was diagnosed with (I think it was) a cataract on the retina. The vet is fairly certain it's something he was born with - and he can see OK out of the eye, but better at night. In Monty's case the vet is also quite convinced that it's nothing to worry about.

I definitely 100% agree with everyone else and recommend you get this checked out sooner rather than later. You don't want to be messing with your cat's eyesight

let us know how you get on

Yes, I agree, this is odd, and needs checking out by the vet. If there's something in the eye that's causing a different colour of light reflection, that "something" needs investigating in case it turns out to need treatment sooner rather than later.

My Tips is blind. Her eyes reflect light totally differently than the others' eyes. This is due to lack of blood supply.

I would get his eyes checked out ASAP.

I would check from different angles, and if the difference continues get your cat checked by your vet, Tabbatha02. It could be a sign of things beginning to go wrong with the eye, and most problems are more easily solved if caught early.

There isn't always something wrong, have any of you noticed that cats' blue eyes (colourpoint breeds and some white) reflect red?

Different species reflect different colours too, which I knew from hanging out with a pest controller and is confirmed in this link. As you see in the first picture of the black cat its eyes are at different angles to the camera and reflect different colours. That's because the back of they eye is not uniform, light-sensitive and colour-sensitive cells are not distributed evenly and there is a concentration of nerves going down into the blind spot where there is no room for seeing cells because the nerves all come together.

We rescued two kittens a few years ago (still with us!), and one had a crusty, scaly something over one eye.

I named him "Jack" - like "one-eyed Jack!" Well, we treated the eye and the crusty stuff went away. He's a happy, healthy fellow now, but when I take a picture of him, his eyes are different colored.

When he was a kitten, and had his shots, the vet looked him over, I told him about the scaly eye, and he used a scope/light/whatever thingy and said he was fine, but I do not think he can see well (or at all) out of that eye.

When he concentrates on something, he'll tilt his head, almost COMPLETELY sideways!! IT's funny to watch. Makes me think he sees things different than the other cats, or can't see out of that eye.
