Murmur in heart

Post by zachandzoey »

Hi all - the vet heard a murmur in my 10 month old kitten's heart.

He said it may not be anything and certainly won't cause any issues until later on in his life.

Should I be taking any action? I am really worried about him...

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, one of my cats was found to have a heart murmur when he was between one and two years old. He had a scan which showed he had HCM although he had no other symptoms at all. If it was me I would want to know more, it may not be anything serious but it will worry you without proper advice. My cat is now six and has started to need a tiny dose of beta blocker following a bug which all the cats caught but made him especially poorly and affected his heart. He recovered well and has a scan twice a year (covered by insurance thank goodness) and hopefully has many years ahead. Let us know how you get on.
