I am so glad she is in good health and it is nothing serious. Good to know there are no matts and her skin is good. I remember a cat who was a stray and 'belonged' to a neighbour of my Sister's who looked not that much different from Mama Cass in the photo, and on closer inspection he needed a lot of clipping. Poor puss. His front left leg was partly matted to his side. Mama Cass is clearly looking after herself well. Did the vet do a blood test to look at her hormones? Has she been done? Hopefully she will stop over grooming soon. The last thing she needs is to form it in to a habit or a comfort. Can the vet suggest anything you could put on her to get her to stop? Anything horrid tasting? It must be the mackerel keeping her skin good, all that fish oil. It shows that even though she is feral, you look after her well.

Yes it's such a relief that she's in good condition (although I can't credit the oily fish - that was just to get her in the trap). She was speyed a couple of years ago but I suppose it could still be hormonal. It's easy to feel a bit foolish when the vet says there is nothing wrong, but with all that thick fur we couldn't be sure she wasn't in a bit of a state.

I am going to have a look into flower remedies that I can put on her food to see that'll stop her overgrooming. We had an overgroomer a few years ago who responded well to Feliway but that's no good for an outdoor only girl! With a bit of look she'll stop once the moulting stops anyway.

I have my own house cat but there’s a cat that lives outside of my apt. I feed him everyday, I put a cat carrier in my backyard for him with warm blankets and I put wet an dry food for him everyday. At first I did try to have him inside. I first bathed him and put a flea collar on him. He was okay for a day or 2 then he start meowing and meowing that he wanted to go outside. I let him go outside. It was cold and I put a little sweater on him. Someone stole it!! I put another on him. Again it was gone! I put flea collar on him 3 times and someone cold hearted had to be removing them! The last time he disappeared for a month. I was so scared for him😭. He looks like a little gentle tiger. He was chunky before. Last week he came and he was extremely thin and could barely meow and the bottom of his neck there was a BIG portion , it was completely bald , like someone got a razor and forcibly shaved below his neck because a piece of hair that was hanging had blood on it😭😭😭. God almighty!! The world is full of evil people! No way was that caused by matted hair! Where I live are , these are nice Apts, but down the street there are ghetto Apts where police are always there! I think someone has been torturing him😭, he’s a precious gentle cat that will follow anyone😔. I pray everyday that no one harms him😔. Today I put some neosporin on bottom of his neck😔. My 40 yr old son said we have to be careful because he might get our inside cat ill or give him fleas. My son told me if we bath him again and keep him inside , he will just cry and cry that he wants go outside😔. My son said just keep on putting food outside for him and pray he’s okay and no one hurts him…What do I do??? Can someone give me some advice? I’m on SSDI and my 40 yr old son lives with me. I cannot afford to take him to vet to see if he is ill, but I can buy him wet and dry cat food ( friskies) and ( temptations) treats from Walmart for him. “ I love animals”. Animals are the most precious creation that God has given us❤️.Can someone please please give me some advice?
