11 month old with constipation
11 month old with constipation
Hi, One of my 11 month old kittens seems to be constipated. Keeps going in the litter tray, but nothing happening other than a little wee. Noticed yesterday and looks like she is the same today. Any advice gratefully accepted.

Re: 11 month old with constipation
Hello
Worth getting her to the vet as several folk on here who have experienced this with their furries will testify. In the meantime some warm water mixed with her wet food may help. Check with the vet about prescription foods which can help such as RC Fibre plus. Given she 's such a baby get her to the vet ASAP as you have no history of this to judge by and you need to eliminate anything more serious than an occasional tendency to constipation. X

i would agree that it is necessary to take the little one to the vets as soon as possible.

Re: 11 month old with constipation
I agree with Sarah & Elaine,
11 months old is very young to suffer from constipation. It is normally something older cats can suffer with. Worth a check up. If it is just something she is prone to, you can alter diet to help by adding water and/or increasing fibre. Worth getting her checked for peace of mind.

Yes she needs to see a vet, it could also be she's got a urinary infection.
Re: 11 month old with constipation
Thank you all for the replies. Spoke to the vet this afternoon and she advised a little olive oil in her food for now, as she seems ok in herself. Also said it could be cystitis. Had already added some warm water to her wet food, so will see how she gets on in the next day or two.
Thanks again, and will keep you posted.
