another post, I am looking after my cat honest! My cat has went off wet food just recently, she normally just get's it at tea time and dry food rest of the time as she is quite a sicky cat (vet says nothing wrong just the way she is).. she will go to the wet food and just lick the gravy or jelly then walk away, is this normal in adult cats? I got her when she was 5 and was told she is sick with wet food so to only give her dry but to be honest she is sick with either and I found she was so content after wet food so I prefer to give her that but can't keep wasting money! she's not sick every day but definitely once a week at least..she is peeing and pooping as normal and drinks plenty water.

lots of cats don't much care for the lumps in wet cat food, especially once they've left them dry after licking off the jelly or gravy

you could try mashing up the lumps in advance so she can't leave them - the Cosima food sold in tins by Lidl can help here, as it seems to have more gravy than any of the usual UK foods

you could also try her with a pate type food like Gourmet, as that has no lumps at all

being sick once a week wouldn't worry me - could be hairballs or could be eating too fast - or as you say could just be one of her 'things'

Hi there Amy, agree with Kay...yeah sometimes mine have acted spoilt and left the lumps so if I've been feeling evil I've mashed it all up first lol.

I did have one lad, a reclaimed feral (well, he claimed me actually) who would NOT eat wet food, only biscuits. And he was fine on them. He did like the cooked chicken breast pieces I bought from Netto (before it turned into Asda grrr!) so I'd often buy them for him and it built up trust, feeding him by hand as he was rather quick on the draw with claws and teeth...he turned into the most magnificent cat...sadly missed...

We recently adopted a cat that was a dry food addict and we wanted to get him on to wet food. The only wet food he likes is Meowing Heads (grain-free). We can't give him any dry food, though, because he'll stop eating the wet food.

Grain-free food is great for cats that have digestion problems - we feed it to all of our cats. Serving smaller, more frequent, portions can help too.

A cat food manufacturer told me that in the foods that are very low in meat - some of them contain only 4% meat and animal derivatives - the only meat is in the gravy/jelly, the rest is other stuff. That's why they lick off the gravy/jelly and leave the rest.
