ruptured diaphragm possible outcome?

Post by Charbs »

My little not-even-2-years-old black cat Cilla was hit by a car yesterday whilst I was at work and today I've been told that she has a ruptured diaphragm and is being operated on as we speak. Luckily I have amazing neighbours who took care of her and took her straight to the vets.
It's apparently extremely high risk as her lungs and chest are so bruised but her breathing is so bad that it's necessary. Obviously I said go ahead, no question!

Just wondering if anyone's experienced this before and what the prognosis might be if she pulls through? Ie recovery time and quality of life etc...

Hope I've posted this in the right section...sorry if not!!

I have no experience, but a quick google suggests cats can have problems with urinating and their tail after this trauma, but can make a full recovery in time

some sail through it too apparently http://www.fairfieldvets.co.uk/ic/cat/salt.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I do so hope your girl is one of these
