ruptured diaphragm possible outcome?

My little not-even-2-years-old black cat Cilla was hit by a car yesterday whilst I was at work and today I've been told that she has a ruptured diaphragm and is being operated on as we speak. Luckily I have amazing neighbours who took care of her and took her straight to the vets.
It's apparently extremely high risk as her lungs and chest are so bruised but her breathing is so bad that it's necessary. Obviously I said go ahead, no question!
Just wondering if anyone's experienced this before and what the prognosis might be if she pulls through? Ie recovery time and quality of life etc...
Hope I've posted this in the right section...sorry if not!!
