Dexter crying and grooming.

I dont know if i'm doing the right thing here.
Dexter is constantly licking at 'himself' and crying.
I've read online (dangerous, i know) about a urinary tract blockage.
However i've only noticed it today - and i'm 
always home and quite attentive.
Can you give me a bit of advice please?
He's not done this before, he's young, doesnt go out much and i feed them all Gourmet.
His belly isnt distended although he feels a little warm. He's not been sick.

The main concern is if he's peeing - if necessary lock him in a room with a litter tray for a day if that's the only way you'll know. Does he go out?

I have three cats so it might be difficult to tell.

I can keep him in my main bedroom while i'm at work i suppose.

It seems like he's trying to but i can't see that he has.

His genital opning seems to be glistening.

The crying and hissing has now stopped for about an hour. He just sits and lies in unusual places.

He's a real daddy's boy usually. Very quiet and friendly.

OK, if you think he is straining to pee and can't, then that is an emergency and he needs to get to a vet - a urinary blockage can be fatal in male cats. It is imperative that you work out, soon, whether or not he is able to pee. Sorry to alarm you, but this is really important.

I dont know what this means, if anything but he is eating.

He ate his dinner and has had treats since - even after thecrying.

The more I think about this, the more worried I'm getting. My Daz had several urinary blockages a couple of years ago. The problem is that it builds up very quickly - if they are unable to pee then their bladder can burst and also they get a toxin build-up that can damage their kidneys - all of this can happen in a matter of hours. If you're at all concerned, I would get him to a vet a.s.a.p.

Daz would lie in odd places (especially cool areas of floor) and I could feel his bladder was tight (behind his tummy, between his back legs).
