My tabby and white cat, Dave has a pale pink nose. However, he also has a pinkish red spot underneath the skin of the nose about the size of a lentil. He's always had it but I wondered if anyone else has seen this on a cat. I do keep my eye on it and I don't think it's got bigger.

Thanks for the reply, OHWS. Yes, that does seem likely and the spot doesn't seem to bother him. Like I say, I'll just keep my eye on it and apply sun screen when he goes out in the summer.

I've had melanoma myself so all spots are suspicious to me.

My ginger cat has two little spots on his nose, just a birthmark I think. When you say spot do you mean that it's raised or flush to the nose?

Hi Bobster. It is flush to his nose. I'll post a photo in a,while.

If it's flush then it probably is nothing to worry about, my Daz had three black spots on his nose and Basil has a varied assortment of pink and beige splotches. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't start to change or look sore, and maybe ask about it next time you're at the vets. Sun screen on their 'pink bits' is a good idea, as Daz is mostly white I do his ears in the summertime.

Thank you for the replies, everyone. I have tried to post a photo, but it keeps saying the file is too big.
The little spot is pinkish red and under the nose skin. It hasn't changed and I'm keeping my eye on it. As I've had melanoma, every spot and mark on me or Dave is suspect.
But he's ok, eating like a pig, washing, purring on my lap and very cuddly.
