Introducing a dog

We would dearly love a dog but also dote on our two cats. I would love to hear peoples experiences of introducing a dog to their home, how the cats reacted and whether you introduced a puppy or rescue dog. This is a big decision for us because as much as we would love a dog we also do not want to upset our cats at all.
