Momma cat wont eat/ drink after delivering kittens!

Post by Kittylover2016 »

Hello, my cat had a litter of kittens two nights ago. One of the kittens died but the rest are active and seem to be nursing well. But I am worried because mom has not ate or drank since delivering. She just lays around. I know she must be exhausted having 7 kittens. But should I be worried is this normal?

Hi there and welcome. No, this isn't normal at all, and you should get help from a vet asap. Sorry to have to tell you this on a Sunday, but worst case scenario could be an infection.

Hope all goes well with her, please keep us updated and all the best.

Thank you. I took her to the vet. She had a retained placenta. They were able to get her to pass it. And gave me antibiotics for her to help treat a possible infection. She seems to be doing better and kittens are doing great!
