Cat Makes Funny Growly Meowy Bad Tempered Noise Suddenly?

Post by SMITHER »

I don't know how else to describe this noise really but it's like he's in a bad mood? had enough of what he's doing? fed-up? I really don't know?

He comes in and all can be well and happy. He has something to eat, then may have a play. The all of a sudden he can be all growly-meowy (but not aggressive), moany?, for no reason what so ever! He then usually asks to go out again but with this weird noise again. If I try to stroke him or talk to him, off he goes again. Goes out chuntering away?

Also, if I am outside with him on our own or with any cat 'visitors', he can be either playing or having some 'sweeties' and then all of a sudden off he goes again! Like as if he's saying 'oh for goodness sake, leave me alone' possibly? I've checked him over other times and he doesn't seem to be in any pain, is happy, contented. This noise just starts for no apparent reason. Is he displeased? Cross?

Has anyone come across a cat like this before or heard of such a strange thing as this? I would really like to know what this may be?

Many thanks to everyone xx

The first two seem to be set off by having their lower backs stroked or scruffled; I had a tomcat who did this. Could be a confused sexual response maybe? :o  The third cat is watching birds and doing that chuntering thing that all cats do.

They do natter away and make odd noises sometimes; I once knew someone who lived with a Siamese who, when she was scolded, would look down her long aristoCATic nose and drawl - 'Well-ll?'

There was no answer to that :D
