My cat has a black sore/swollen lump on his bottom lip

My cat has a sore/swollen looking lump on his bottom lip. It doesn't seem to be bothering him too much however he moves away if you try to go near it. It's a black/dark brown colour and the surrounding skin appears to be cut slightly. It's been there about a week and seemed to look worse yesterday. Does anyone know what it might be??

Whatever it is, it doesn't look good and needs looking at by a vet sooner rather than later. The fact that he won't let you touch it means it's bothering him... please call the vet now and make an appointment

I've been trying to get an appointment. He didn't seem bothered by it at first. Managed to get one for tonight. Thanks

excellent, please do let us know what the vet says - may be a rodent ulcer which will need some treatment.
