Hello again, if you cat has daily periods of squatting around the house, what do you do when this happens? Do you leave them to get on with it or try and stop them? Sophie does this often more so when the metacam wheres off but I do not know what to do to stop it. Sophie is not interested in any food at all during these moments, but it is strange as she does not seem stressed as during the periods she will jump on my bed, pee, then come on my lap and start rubbing against things will tail usually high. It does not make sense. Then when I get off my bed most of the time she just cuddles up and settles down on the bed. I know she does not seem to squat around as much when no one is home as there are puddles of urine by the litter tray or in it downstairs and she has eaten and drunk a little. Also people say Sophie's water intake must increase so I have been giving her the lick yogurt chicken which contains 88.5% moisture so hopefully this is ok. She is also off her c/d and w/d at the moments and tends to eat the treats more which is annoying but I feel something must be better than nothing. Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks

When cats have cystitis it hurts them to pee, so they often end up trying and then failing or only ending up peeing a little bit in lots of different places because the last place they tried hurt. I wouldn't try to stop her as she's in pain and it would be unkind, so just try to protect where she might try to go perhaps. The stress causes the wrong acid level in the urine, which irritates, causes inflammation, and that causes the pain. I found a daily dose of Cystophan/Cystease very helpful as it helps protect the bladder wall and also helps deal with stress, and yes as much liquid as you can get into her to flush out the bladder - I add water to their wet food as well as giving cat milk.

We took Sophie to the vets last night as I thought maybe her diabetes has become uncontrolled and she is not getting enough insulin which is making her urinate more and she has hardly eaten anything. I put the cystease equivilent, Yureleave, into the lick a lix chicken yogurt which she does have and this is have lots of moisture. They said they cannot give her anything to help her eat as it will mess with the blood glucose. It is hard to see her not eating but she is peeing lots. Thanks
