Well, the op went well, her hip was really deformed though, poor thing. Her body temp is low, so she is currently in an incubator - the vet isn't convinced they will be able to get her back out, so they've put her in one they can switch off and leave her in!! Even though she was sleepy when the vet rang, she was still growling at them, and last night she was so bad they couldn't do the fluids and pain relief they wanted to, I'm not surprised. She does have one dodgy tooth, but they cant' do it at the same time as the hip op, and it doesn't seem to bother her so that is one for another year!! We are just waiting for the urine sample test, in case that shows anything, but the scan and BP test was all fine. She is currently on 4 hourly pain relief, unfortunately she's a difficult cat to judge about pain, so she may not be coming home tomorrow - or they may send her home because they can't do anything with her!! So far she will be assessed at 4pm tomorrow, so I know if I can pick her up. Now just got to sort out the kitchen for her room rest.

I hope so, as she has been really grumpy, bless her. The urine test has come back fine, so that's a relief.

Just rang the vets, they've rearranged the cage which has calmed her down, she isn't acting in pain but hasn't eaten much. I'll get a text at 10, then one in the morning

I have read the whole thread and it's amazing the level of care you are giving Lucy.
I'm very glad that the operation went well, hopefully she'll have some relief now.
Don't worry too much about kidney failure, though. My cat Lola has been having CKD for 11 years without any real trouble. We just would check her kidneys three or four times a year with blood tests and ultrasound (once or twice a year). There are specific med therapies for this disease and a special diet that I'm sure you already know
Hopefully you'll have very good news today. Yesterday Lucy was just out the operating room, so it's normal that her temperature was low and needed an incubator. Growling and not eating much shortly after the surgery is more than normal too.

The vet has just rang, she is doing well, eating and toileting, but very stressed and un-cooperative (which is normal for her, so they are finding it a tad hard to tell her pain levels), so they want her home ASAP, which means sending her home with the Fentanyl patch which they wouldn't normally do, so she has to go back on Fri to have it removed (and I have instructions if it comes off before then). I'm also allowed to carry her into the front room with me, as long as I make sure she doesn't jump on anything, so at least she isn't confined 24/7.

Aww that’s good news, she will be so pleased to be home.

I'd dare say that since she's to her normal attitude she should be alright.

Well, I've now found two more ways to get to the vet!
The nurse saw a difference in Lucy when she saw me, which is lovely, she kept passing comment on how pretty she is. She's also down to 4.9kg, even with the reduction in food.
I'm impressed how small the scar is and that there is no collar! She's been lovely with me but keeps growling, seemingly at her front bandaged leg! Cheaper than I thought, £839

She seems to have had a good night, although not eaten all her supper. She is more affectionate than normal which is lovely

Probably she's still a bit disoriented from the adventure.

I have to get three antibiotics in her a day, I had some putty stuff from the vets that I used this morning, she took all 3 halves - lets hope it works this evening.

How long does Lucy have to take these antibiotics for?
Are they big pills?

fingers crossed the putty stuff keeps doing the trick... if not; webbox sticks are good. Although I do find that store own brand tend to be softer and more malleable that the webbox brand. So that may be worth trying if she goes off the putty.

Continues vibes to you both - it'll seem like a long week, but well worth it in the end x

I think it is for 8 days, they aren't particularly big. I'll check the packaging tonight

Well, the vet is quite pleased with her - she did use teeth and claws when removing the bandage and patch though! Unfortunately she has lost more weight (she is down to 4.7kg), so diet is out of the window, and it's just whatever she will eat - since getting home, she has eaten some of her old biscuits, as well as some of her breakfast. She also got an a/b jab as I've only managed to get one dose into her. The vet didn't have a lot of oral painkillers left, so I get to go back tomorrow!!

It only worked once unfortunately - it is called Easypill

In this house Easypill worked only once, when it was empty
As soon as I hid the pill into it (and I did it in a stealth mode) my cat refused to eat it!

She is still not eating as much as normal, but at least she is eating something - yesterday she favoured the renal biscuits over her RC Calm ones! I'm struggling with photobucket though, no idea if this will work

Could it be that Lucy still feels pain or discomfort for the surgery?
This could be the reason why she isn't eating much.
