Hi folks I have had some great advice on these boards so I'm back!
Our two adopted cats have now been with us for 3 weeks. They are three and a half, up to date with worming, flea treatment and vaccinations. We have been feeding them Felix pouches, which was the food they were given at the rescue, plus a supper of Royal Canin biscuits. They always seem to be hungry! I know that Felix does not have a high meat content and am considering transitioning them onto a better quality wet food.
I have heard that Lidl do a good wet food, any experiences? Or any other recommendations/advice?

Felix As Good as it Looks actually has one of the higher protein contents compared to a lot of other varieties.

Part of the problem is the inconsistency of the labeling, some refer to specific named meat content, some refer to general meat content, some list protein content, it makes comparing foods rather tricky. Felix AGAIL also doesn't contain cereal which is one of the problem ingredients. You also have to be careful with some of the more specialist pet foods to make sure they are a 'complete' food, there are a lot of trace minerals and vitamins that are added to pet food to make sure that the animals get what they need, straight lean meat doesn't contain everything.

In the end if they will eat Felix, then I wouldn't worry about changing, you might want to give them something else sometimes to ring the changes or even the occasional raw meal.

It is also worth remembering that in the UK there are strict rules concerning pet food so none are really bad.

Yes, the Lidl Premium pouches in jelly are the ones often recommended on here (£1.99 for 12 x 100g). They're not as plentiful as the gravy ones, so you may have to hunt under the top layer of boxes to find them! Some of us stock up on them when we do find them.

Markb recently mentioned some pouches on sale at Morrisons, under the brand name Pascoes, also in jelly, at £2 for 12 x 100g, without the cereal ingredients often used in cheaper cat food. I got some today and initial reaction is very good - we'll see if they still like them in a week or two!

For dry food my two love Purina One Sensitive, and some other flavours - chicken, and salmon. It's much cheaper if you buy it online from Zooplus than in local supermarkets. Others on here will probably suggest other favourites - James Wellbeloved and other quality ones.

Thanks so much for the replies and good to know that felix isn't as bad as some would make out! I will keep an eye out for the Lidl ans Morrison food mentioned. Much appreciated
