Diabetes - diagnosis?

Has anyone had their cat diagnosed with diabetes?

Was it based on both a blood test AND urine test? Or a urine test only?

I'm feeling rather sceptical about my cat's diagnosis (urine test only) and will be seeking a second opinion, but I thought I'd also see what experiences other people have had with diagnosis.

My vet did urine test only and was happy to use this as the basis to confirm Lily doesn't have diabetes. He is a very good vet, so I'm happy to trust him on this. Lily's got nearly every other mature feline medical condition, but not this one (yet). I think she collects them as a hobby.
