So sorry to read this, RIP little Alfie.

It sounds like he knew it was his time to go, the best we can ever do is hope is that we understand that message.

Vanilla, I'm so sorry to read this.
I have been through the same terrible decision only a week ago, I know exactly how you are feeling.
But know that you did the right thing for him, just as I know I have done the right thing for my Lola. I have no regrets, there was no more time for her.
I know that I haven't been too early or too late.
Alfie let you know the same thing. He chose the right time, you got the message.
Don't blame yourself.

RIP sweet Alfie :(

Thank you for all the kind messages. Alfie would have been 11yrs old on the 8th of April. He died four days short of his birthday. I had to visit the in-laws with the kids over the Easter hols so didn't get a chance to fully grieve. When we came back on Sunday I felt the gaping hole in my heart. I had to cuddle his bed and cry for a bit. I do miss my gentle giant. So kind and never bit or scratched anyone, not even as a kitten.
