new cat
new cat
Just need some advice, we have six cats and we have just taken in another cat five years of age and a Tom, we are getting him done Monday, but we need some tips on how to integrate the cat, his last owner couldn't take him as they were moving and part of the deal was no pets, for a Tom, he is very timid, so any good tips on how to get him accepted would be great

Re: new cat
If he's getting done on Monday, I'd suggest keeping him in a separate room for a week or two after that so that his hormones and smell calm down before introducing him to any others.

Re: new cat
As Crewella says you need to keep him separate for a while post op.
Male hormones can take up to 6 weeks to regress but closer to 4 from experience and introducing a hormone loaded male to the family is going to cause stress, serious friction and territorial problems and you don't want to rock the boat to much as if they start spraying its a devil of a habit to break.

Alfie has been done, and he is resting in the spare room, he did cause some mayhem last night with his smell, so hopefully things will start to settle down gradually over the next few months, thanks for everything
