Hello everyone.

I just wondering if people have any ideas or have dealt with this before? My cat Gibson has hasn't been acting himself lately and it has my family concerned. One day he was himself, doing his usual shenanigans and what not but, then the next his he wouldn't eat close to what he usual does, he just slept most of the day and generally lethargic this continued. So, we took him to his vet and they check him over, they said his teeth, heart rate, breathing and temperature was normal and fine. The vet gave him a shot of antibiotic just in-case something was developing, this would last about 3-4 days. And then said their really much to go on, bring him back in X amount days if he isn't any better. It's been 2 days since the trip to the vets.

After that is made us fell better and the last few days he has been abit more social and eating/drinking more but, still isn't back to his normal self. And we are kinda still concerned. We live in the UK and thought maybe this sudden heat and something to with it, we dunno?.

Just wondering if anyone seen/ dealt with this before?

It could certainly be the warm weather, but those are also very much the symptoms mine would display when brewing an abscess, before there was really anything to see by way of a lump. If that was the case, the ABs should have stopped it progressing and he should be beginning to feel better. I would gently groom him all over, checking for any sore spots or lumps or small wounds, especially around the head and the root of the tail.

Just in case it is mild dehydration, make sure there are plenty of water bowls down and keep the water topped up. I find my two cats prefer to eat at night in the warm weather - that might be worth trying too.

It might just be the weather, all of mine are more lethargic during the day when it is hot, but come to life late evening and during the night when it cools down. It could also be that there is an infection or abscess as has been suggested and the antibiotics are working but they do take a bit of time. I would suggest keeping a close eye on him, stroke and groom him a bit more than normal that way you can carefully check if there is anything unusual or any areas that he doesn't like being touched. Monitor him and if there is any change for the worse get back in touch with the vet straight away, or if he doesn't improve in a few more days, particularly now the heat has broken. Hopefully in a day or so he will be back to his normal self.

Thank you both for commenting with suggestions. I'm happy to report that Gibson has been a lot more himself these few days. He's a lot more sociable and is eating/drinking more like himself. Again, thank you!
