Just got off the phone from the vet. He said the operation went well and they have successfully joined the bone and pinned it and Freddie is already coming around from the anaesthetic. Hopefully they have saved his leg.

They will keep him in and change the bandage on Saturday. If everything looks OK, he can come home next week! YAY!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Thank you all for your best wishes, prayers and good vibes. Please don't stop!

Brilliant news, I'll be keeping all fingers and paws crossed here until he is safely home at least.

Speaking from experience, that's about as reassuring a vet opinion as you are likely to get at this stage! Glad its going well, and hope he is home soon.

OH called the vets this morning for an update on Freddie. He was put through to Luis, who said he is so pleased with Freddie's recovery that he can come home TODAY! He must have strict cage rest and he is to go back in a week for a bandage change and X-ray.

I'm just going to get the cage out and put it back together. He will need a litter tray but even our small one is quite big (almost half the size of the cage) Do you think an A4 plastic 'In' tray would be big enough for his little bum?

Great news! So the kitting is knitting??? :D

He'll be so pleased and so will you ... I'm sure he won't mind about the in-tray ...

One kitten pending ... Welcome home Freddie! x

Some years ago I had to cage a cat. The cage had two doors, front and side. I was able to secure a covered litter tray to the side door, giving him an "en suite". There was a gap round the top and side of the litter tray hood, which I closed with plastic garden netting wired in place. Glad Fred is doing well. :)

I like the idea of an en suite! But this cage has only one door. He will have to make do with the kitten tray that OH came home with.

Great news, lets hope he continues healing at this rate and will be back to running mayhem soon (but not until the vets say so).

As I have described before, I set up a two cage affair for Tilly, both cages had two doors, so they were arranged door to door. One cage had her litter tray and the other was sleeping and eating quarters. I could slide a piece of wood down to block off the communicating doors so that I could clean out her litter tray without any risk of her escaping. Could also work the other way when needing to change her bedding.

Excellent news that he is doing so well. Perhaps the "Out" tray would be more appropriate though?!

We took the collar of shame off so he could have a good wash. He has had his tea and a big wee. So I think he will settle now.

Aww, the lad ... yes, if they have an op they seem to get that greasy-coated look; he'll be so glad to get back to normal ... well, comparatively. But getting home is a start. All the best and lots of love from me and the gang x

Poor lad, when you are used to being able to groom yourself it must feel horrible not to be able to. At least he's home and no doubt will be getting a lot of love and attention for all of being confined to a crate.

Give him a big fuss from me, and a fuss to the rest I don't want any of them getting jealous.

Yes , thank you. Young Freddie had a good night, a big breakfast and some play time with one of those treat thingies - you put the biscuits in and they try and get them out!

I was outside for a short time this afternoon and he cried for me the whole time. He sounds so pathetic. It is going to be a LONG six weeks!

It probably will, but worth it if you have a four-legged cat at the end of it. Good luck.

Room rest was hard enough, unfortunately Lucy gets aggressive when she can't get her own way, so I got bit or scratched every day, her's ended up 9 weeks in total!

When i read of others troubles with cage rest and room rest, I realise what a good natured cat Tilly is!
Be a good patient patient little Freddie.

So glad Freddie’s home & calling for his mum. Hope the litter tray is sorted. He looks like he has a rather large bandage...lots of padding for protection. Lots of fusses to him as well as Billy, Gracie & Purdy. Vivian & The Famous Five from Oz.

Fred seems to be doing well, though he was very fretful when we got back from our weekly shop this afternoon. I got him out of the cage and asked OH to keep an eye on him while I made our tea.

Looks like they both had a tiring day!
