My cat has very swollen, sore upper lip.

Post by cathystanton2016 »

Hi!

My cat Ellie has a very sore, swollen upper lip. She has always suffered from allergies and I hope that this is what it is. Her top lip is very pronounced which now looks like the bottom of her nose has a large crevice. She also had two black marks which look sore on either side of her mouth. She is eating and drinking normally and appears in good health with no diarrhoea or vomiting. Can anyone advise?

Many thanks.

I woud make a vet appointment ASAP. There are so many things it could be, from comparatively minor and easily treatable (acne, spider bite, abscess) to more serious stuff, and only a vet can tell you. Whatever it is, the sooner it is attended to the better the prognosis, so I would not delay.

if it came on suddenly and she has been outside, I would suspect a bee or wasp sting
