eosinophilic plaque

Post by do2689 »

hello!
i'm new to this and a new cat owner. i have just in the last few weeks adopted two cats and have been told by my vet that one of my cats has the above complaint. SHe wasn't sure at first and so issues some antibiotics but it has now been confirmed. My cat itself isn't seeming any different in personality but does have this big open wound which she keeps scratching and making worse. I have no put a vet collar on her to stop this.
she is starting a course of steroids tomorrow when the vet comes. i was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? if so is there any advice/tips that you can give me plz?

thanks

Where does your cat have the problem? I have a cat who regularly gets oral esinophilic granuloma which is treated with steroids. She has an outbreak every few months. My vet discussed whether I wanted to keep her on a constant low level of steroids, or just treat her when she has a problem, I do the latter to give Victoria (the cat) a break.

When I first had the biopsy results I was HUGELY relieved, because it was initially thought Victoria had squamous cell carcinoma, which one of my cats died from years ago. Dealing with the esinophilic granuloma is a doddle by comparison, though I do hate the idea that she might have some long term problem because of the steroids. I just hope she'll be an old cat by then.
