Post by Athena quinn »

I just got a kitten 4 days ago she is maybe 8 weeks? Since yesterday she has been dragging her buttom. Some Blood in stool. Cries when she poops. Discharge around anal. I have not seen worms in her poop and I dont know whats going on?if she needs a vet visit I will take her but I wanted advice first.

Impacted or infected anal glands? Anal fissure? Constipation? It could be so many things - I would get her to the vet ASAP. If you have only just got her a general check up and vaccination advice are a good idea in any case.

If she is just 8 weeks old (or even younger) it could be that there was some forced weaning involved and she is having problems adjusting to a kitten food diet as opposed to one supplemented by her mother's milk. I have to agree on getting her to a vets sooner rather than later for a general check up and advice. As she has been homed at what is now considered a young age, normally kittens are homed at 12-13 weeks not 8, I would also suggest asking the vet about a suitable worm and flea treatment for her in case they were not done before she was homed, worms could also be a cause of her problems.
