Cat behaviour after mating

Post by Stac-86 »

Hi, I have a Siamese which was recently Mated, although since being home she is being sick, sneezing, malting a lot, not eating much and generally not being herself I.e sitting around sleeping , (Siamese owners will understand this?) am I right to be worried or does this normally happen after mating? First time mum?

I would be concerned that she may have cauht something while with the stud. Have you consulted your vet?

I've no experience with breeding cats, but I have to agree that if you are concerned then a trip to the vets is the best idea rather than risk anything going wrong with either the Mum cat or the kittens. I would also have thought it would be good for you to talk to your vets regarding how thing should progress and any scans etc that might be useful, particularly if you haven't had a pregnant cat before.
