Hello all, I have two indoor cats who ended up with fleas at the beginning of May. We had a decent infestation it seems and at the height were combing up to 10 fleas off each cat per day. As of now, we seem to have eradicated the issue through treating the cats and the house. We used Bravecto drops (vet prescribed), daily flea combing, daily vacuuming, treated the flooring with pesticide, and washed the bedding every other day. We continue the vacuum and comb the girls every day as a cautionary measure so we do not backslide into an infestation.
We have not found any fleas or flea dirt on either cat in over a week now, however both girls are still quite itchy. I read online that existing bites can itch for up to two weeks for some cats- but it seems somehow like they are getting itchier day by day but we still cannot find any indication that they still have fleas! I feel like I am losing my mind with worry as I don't want them to suffer. Behavior otherwise is normal, cuddly, normal appetite, bathroom signs all normal.
Can anyone please share insight with me on what the 'recovery' was like for your cats after fleas? Any insight helps!!!!

I have been through a flea infestation or two in my life, in which both my cats and myself were bitten. Those bites stay itchy for a surprisingly long time, in my experience. Much longer than other bug bites. And scratching at them keeps them even itchier! It’s maddening, but you may very well be past your infestation — I hope so!

Thanks Jackie...
UPDATE: After a week of not finding any fleas or signs of fleas other than itching, we found a single dead flea on my cats tail. Not sure if this means we still have stragglers or if that one has been dead on her for a few days....
