I adopted a kitten 3 days ago (Thursday) and she's 8 weeks old. I live with 2 other people, 1 is around her late fifties and the other guy is early sixties.
She's much more used to me, she sleeps on my lap and plays with me but whenever anyone comes into the living room she hides under the sofa or behind the TV. She comes out when the new people sit down and are mostly quiet but with almost anyone if they move she gets spooked and hides again. Most of the time she needs coaxing out with her favourite toy string.
Any suggestions on how to build her confidence?

It's been 3 days, this is still pretty normal. Give her time and encourage her but let her figure out for herself that these people are just as safe as you are to be around. You're on the right track encouraging play as this will keep her brain occupied and let time and repetition prove to her that it's safe, and she will get the idea.
