Upper respiratory infection + coughing

Post by Orangekitty »

I adopted a 4 month old kitten who has an upper respiratory infection. He eats a lot and goes to the bathroom a lot and has energy to play. He also loves to just sitting in my lap and purrs constantly. The vet gave me the standard medication the shelter was giving him. It’s been almost a weeks and he still has water eyes and sneezing just a little but it’s his cough that worries me. He’s coughing a lot. Is this normal for an upper respiratory infection? How long do these last? Should I go back to the vet or wait another week?

I think I would phone the vet, and ask for advice. Having seen him so recently they should know if the continued coughing is to be expected. But if he is bright and bouncy and eating well it sounds as if there is not too much wrong.
