Bringing new cat into the home.

Post by Mkrob77375 »

We have two well-established cats (rescues in the home for over a decade), and have brought in a new rescue. He’s about a year old and was an outdoor cat for a while. He is very playful and loving to us. Our established cats will have nothing to do with him directly. One of the established cats is extremely skittish in general and quite fearful in some situations. The other one is fairly laid back but constantly growls at the new one and will have nothing to do with the new one.

That said, we’ve tried standard protocols to get them introduced, but cannot get them to not focus on each other when they’re in the same room even when feeding. Can’t get them to play in he same room either - it’s a constant stare down. We had a bit of a setback a few days back because the new one, despite being on a leash, was able to pounce on the fearful one (I think it was to play but not 100% sure). Now the fearful one won’t even eat unless we put him in a room by himself.

Any suggestions?
