Amy has stomatitis

Post by Kokoschka »

Hello all, l'm new here.
Just found you while looking for answers to Amy's stomatitis after she had all her teeth pulled. Only fangs were left to her.

She had ben in horrible pain again and again and our vet got her about a month of respite each time by injecting antibiotics. Last months the situation got out of control with Amy being in pain constantly. Vet said there's nothing more she can do at this stage so had her referred to a dental vet.

The result is a totally disturbed and scared Amy. Constantly in pain so that pawing at the mouth and screaming are worse than ever. The poor thing is now sporting a toothless mouth and gums full of stitches. Since she obviously can't groom herself now, she looks awful but won't let me touch her to clean her face a little bit.

This dental vet said stitches will take about 8 weeks to dissolve and it being stomatitis, she'll probably need constant treatment.

For the record😺 We have a whole bunch of strays turned into home cats with all the obligations (for us) and amenities for them. Our vet is a terrific professional and human being and has been taking care of our felines for some 16 years now. So far we must have invested more than just a couple of luxury cars in them kitties. We're lucky to have such a considerate and kind vet but being now retired financial resources are quite limited. That's why l'm so angry at this dental person, we are paying her quite a lot and all she did is cause Amy even more pain.

Any similar or hopefully better experiences anyone?

Thank you, Kokoschka
