ringworm

hello,
i am waiting on my kittens results to see if they have ringworm- although an educated guess tells me it is likely. i will need to start a deep clean of my environment. a number of rooms are carpeted, annoyingly so- is there a steam cleaner that is good for upholstery and at a push, carpets? i read that the heat from steam is good at killing the spores but most steam cleaners i come across are mainly designed for hardwood floors, cannot seem to find any other than useless looking tiny ones for fabric/upholstery.
any ideas appreciated. already exhausted at the potential protocols that are coming my way..
