FIV Boy has jaw bone infection - do antibiotics work?

I met Mr BC (Mr Black Cat) in my garden ten years ago - he was a stray. I had him neutered (or is it spayed?) and that's when I found out he had FIV. It was the Cats Protection who paid for the operation and they advised that I put him to sleep, but I refused. FF ten years and he has puss in his mouth. His gum has come away from his teeth and he is on Zodon which is a strong antiobiotic for bone infections. He didn't eat for two days, yesterday he ate quite a lot. Today he has only eaten a tiny bit. I want to ask anyone who has an FIV cat if antibiotics can work in a cat with FIV?

Thanks,

Kris

Zodon didn't work for my FIV boy. RIP my darling Mr BC.
