Please can anyone offer some advice.

I rescued a stray who was in bad condition from my garden and took him to the vet for help.

They have diagnosed him with FIV and will only keep him until wed this week unless someone comes forward for hi
.

They won’t release him to my as I have two healthy cars of my own do my only hope is to find a sanctuary that will take him where I am happy to sponsor him.

He’s a sweet and friendly boy who deserved better luck than he has had. Does anyone know of anywhere. I’ll frive him to wherever he will be safe.

Thank you

Oh this makes me so angry! I have an FIV+ cat living very happily with 5 FIV- cats! The only reason to worry would be if any of the cats were prone to fighting. Almost the only way to catch it is through a deep bite. The virus has a very short life outside the host. I wish vets would get up to date on such things. But I suppose they are no different to most GP's - only believing what the drugs reps tell them.

I really hope you can find someone to take him in.

Hi and welcome. Poor puss, he can’t be PTS for having FIV. There are quite a few rescues who will take FIV cats and rehome them. I don’t know if you've seen this but here is some information on FIV:

https://www.catchat.org/index.php/fiv

and here is a list of rescues you can ring round:

https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-r ... xfordshire

I don’t really do Facebook but if you do could contact rescues on there too, there may be someone who will help.

I really hope you manage to find someone today, what a worry!
