In less than an hour I'll be a fosterer!!
Just waiting for Oliver to arrive!
Saw a post on my local Cats Pro page, who I know. He turned up as a stray in September and was being looked after by someone. However they were going on holiday tomorrow and were turfing him out. Not sure how much of that story is true but hey...
They posted for a home and no one was interested. I couldn't bear him on the streets in the cold so I have offered my spare room. My circumstances have changed and I have just split with my partner of 11 years. The room is hardly used so it seemed an option.
He's about to arrive. He'll be separate from Ella and Archie but I'm sure they'll know he's here. It's all very nerve wracking!!

Cats are true companions you can trust and they wont leave as long as they are loved.unlike humans a Cat is loyal to the end.

Oh good on you! I started fostering this year and I've never regretted it for a second.
Do you have rescue back-up, or are you going it alone?

Good for you, I've fostered for over 5 years and it's by far the most rewarding thing I've ever done. It's a given that you will end up adopting at least one of your fosters though

No it's the local cats protection but they had no space and he was in a dire situation on being on the street. Such a lovely, loving boy. So relaxed. Not sure if it's something I would do full time as it would mean disruption to Ella and Archie as they know he is here and if I did that constantly.
He has obviously been loved at some point and the theory is he was dumped.
He has melted my heart this evening and glad I have helped him. One of my colleagues may have already written to the homing officer about him, if not he can stay for say long as he wants, ha ha!

Oh he's gorgeous!
Poor boy, but lucky boy that he's now safe with you. I really hope you enjoy fostering ..... it can be a bit tough emotionally when they go (if they go ....... I warn you, temptation to keep them is huge!), but it's so rewarding. I've recently started to get pics and updates about former fosters, and it's wonderful to see them happy in their new homes.
I hope he finds a lovely new home, I'm sure he will.

Re: In less than an hour I'll be a fosterer!!
What a lovely chap, he looks very much at home with you already
I had a similar situation, my local CP was full but they had an elderly (20 yo) mog who's owner had moved into a care home waiting to come in to foster care. Having been born and lived with his owner all his life her family had just left him in the house on his own, I couldn't bear the thought of him having no one at home so he moved into my spare room. He was a delight and I think pleased to have some company after months living on his own. He was only with me 3 weeks when a kind soul stepped forward and adopted him, he ruled the roost in his new home and went on to live until he was 21

Someone from my facebook has fallen in love with him, she has a cat and two dogs and Oliver is both cat and dog friendly so she's meeting him later tonight.
I'll miss him and have considered keeping him if I'm honest but thinking with my head at the mo

Well visit went well. He was unphased by the dogs so if the home visit goes well, he should be in his new home at the end of the week.
I think I'm quite sad as had kinda made up my mind to keep him!

Although Domino is getting thesnip this week and is on CP list, we are wonderingif there is any way we can make it work. He seems to be bonding with Laz OK - Kylie will decide though!

Awwwww, they do look quite relaxed together. I hope Mme Kylie takes to him too.
Blimey, that's a quick turnaround, Simon!! I hope he's very happy, wherever he ends up. Would you foster again, do you think?

Look don't judge me cos I'm weak!!!
There's a bit of a situation now. The woman that saw him there were some reservations on the home check but they also know I'm keen on him (I must stop positing pictures of him on fb!!)
I would foster again. I think I would have preferred a cat that needed bringing round rather than the one that's upstairs asleep on my bed.

Come on ..... spill ....... what have you done?
I'm glad you'd consider fostering again, you barely had a chance to get to know this one!
(though that appears to have been quite long enough ............ )

Re: In less than an hour I'll be a fosterer!!
Nothing, we agreed if the home visit didn't pass then I would adopt him. However despite some reservations they agreed she could have him. Friday is collection day.
Or was.
Got home from work late tonight to hear Oliver sneezing. I'm going away for work tomorrow and my best friend is staying. So she will take him to the vets but looks like everything is going to be delayed.
I'll need to also keep an eye on Ella and Archie too as although interaction has been minimal, I have let him exercise in the house when they have been out.
Looks like he will be staying till he gets the all clear which means I'll be even more in love

Well Oliver is now called Jack and went off to his new home on Friday. I'm happy I helped him!
