Urgent help, cat stuck up a tree
Urgent help, cat stuck up a tree
Hi there
A friend of a friend's cat is stuck up a tree and has been since Friday, the firebrigade have refused to help and they are unable to get to him with normal ladders.
Does anyone have any ideas that might help her get to her boy?
Thanks very much

Re: Urgent help, cat stuck up a tree
How high is the tree? Where is the tree, is it in her garden? Has she tried to phone RSPCA. I suppose they have tried to lure the cat down with food. Can they borrow or get a ladder anywhere near it?
Re: Urgent help, cat stuck up a tree
Yes she phoned the rspca and they said to phone the fire brigade. The tree is too tall for them to get to with a ladder. I was just wondering if anyone knew of anyone who had had this kind of experience up in Scotland and found someone who was able to help.

I would suggest phoning the local paper. People that haven't previously been willing, might help. Maybe the council have a cherry picker they can use?

try a local tree surgeon, most are usually animal friendly and willing to help, they also use rope and tackle which is less likely to frighten the cat

I'd try a tree surgeon too....

She has tried - they said it was too tall! Poor boy - he is quiet during the day and then meows like mad at night.

I'd give the fire brigade and RSPCA another ring - one of them has to help. It's been too long already without food poor thing

Just picked up on this - what's happening? Have you managed to rescue the poor little thing yet?
Our local Fire Brigade lads (and lass) are all part-timers - mostly local business people. I can't see them giving up THAT easily!

Hi stormy . . .could you please let us know how this poor cat is . . I too have been worrying about the fact that the poor soul has been without fluid or food in freezing cold conditions . . . Absolutely terrible and so annoyed that RSPCA , though I should have guessed , had no interest . . . . Nor fire brigade . . . So sad . .

Re: Urgent help, cat stuck up a tree
This is terrible - I do hope someone has got this poor little cat down. It must be an enormous tree! I wonder whether anyone from a climbing group would be able to go up? They would need to be roped at each stage and have a sack to put the cat into once they got to it. Friday to Wednesday is a dreadfully long time.

Well I really don't know what to think but the trust had connections to tree surgeons, climbers, groundsmen, bird people infact they had various links throughout Scotland. I just hope something was done to help this cat.....???
