Minnies return..

Post by andy2912 »

Following on from the last thread, Minnie has returned.. briefly, to my home

I have put her in my sons room, as he is grown up lol.

This morning i collected her from RSPCA (who will be getting a donation in the new year!) cattery.
She walked out the pen straight to me :D

Got home and the kittens were waiting for me and followed me up stairs. shut Minnie in room and fed her and set up litter tray.
she seemed ok, eat her food then looked out window so i left.
I came back half hour later before going to work and gave her a small stroke. no hissing or swiping.. good start :)

Toby was grumpy all morning after i got back hissing at me and kittens, maybe he a bit stressed?

Tonight when i got back i could hear Minnie Minx meowing loudly!

Fed kittens and Toby, clean up litter tray (Toby like outdoor loo's lol)
Went upstairs to sort Minnie out, the Minx lives up to her name.. shot straight out the bedroom down stairs hissed at kittens, looked at Toby who then took a swipe at her lol, Minnie then jumped onto the cat tree bed lol

I then take her back up stairs with kittens in tow. think they think she a kitten as she is same size as them. shut her in then proceed to clean up litter tray and feed her, she did have an accident in the day and weed next to litter tray :( but have place a sheet of cardboard under neat tray.

Then let Toby out as it was 7 hours since he came in. I like sure mate cat flap lol.
Went back to see Minnie she was on the window sill, went to stroke her she then started growling at me as i went near :(

Decided to leave.

Came back later same thing so i found gherold blanket and plugged in the feliway diffuser and she settled down on her blanket and started purring.. only time she purred was in night and it woke me up!

Again have just checked her and again she growled as i went near her.

Minnie the Minx indeed! Lovely photos. Treacle looks very cosy :)

Gracie can be very grumpy with me, growling and hissing if I try to stroke her. But she's a real Daddies Girl, shamlessly snuggling up to him when he is watching the telly.

Found out why kittens and toby are mabe reacting to minnie , in cattery minnie was the only neutered cat :( in the block for 4 days

there were at least 5 toms not neutered :(

maybe minnie has their scent still lingering on her :(

have ordered some cat deodorizing spray hoping that work for my sisters cat

Andy, you'd probably do better to rub her with something from their house than introduce another foreign smell. The smells from the cattery will be fading now. Good luck, I hope she settles well.

Toby and minnie ok this morning. No growling or hissing. He followed me in to room as I fed and cleaned litter tray.
When she goes to my sisters I have a pet fleece that minnie has been lying on.
And she has a blanket her cats use.
Am really angry that Minnie may have been thrown out.
She is missing her favourite toy as well as her bed. She had a blue fluffy snake on a stick that she would drag round the house lol

Andy you are right it was probably the smell of the RSPCA pen and the other cats, as they have a much better sense of smell than us, and nearly always react in the same way if one has to go to vets.....and doesn't come back smelling of 'home'.

Hope all goes well with Little Minnie at the weekend,

will you be able to buy a replica of her favourite toy ?

Another update

today Minnie is at my sisters, 1st intros didn't look good :(

Got to sisters house and left Minnie in carrier so she could settle before going to her room, Lily comes in see carrier walks up to it from behind, big hiss and ears go back :o Minnie no reaction.
Few minutes later her other cat Leo comes in, he sees carrier then straight upstairs.

Later on Lily came back in and she lay in front of carrier and slight moaning, not a growl, from Minnie and Lily looked more relaxed, no hissing and came upto me for fuss before going out.

In Minnies new room was a fresh litter tray, which was christened by Leo moments before Minnie went in lol :D

In room was a few blankets her cats laid on recently and we put Minnies fleece on top. she came out of carrier and immediately hid behind some boxes and that was the last i seen of her :(
Hope thing go all right.
My sis understands about cat intros and bonding, and is not going to let her out side for at least 6 weeks she says, she works shifts and no cat flap, cats are in or out depending on where they are and a few places in garden to hide, and a big field to catch mice lol but she has them in over night.

Since i have been home Toby seems more chilled and relaxed now. maybe stressed out by new kittens then Minnies return few weeks later.

But am amazed at how quick Toby bonded with kittens, and Minnie and Candy before yet when Minnie came back he was very vocal and angry with her.

More news after 2 weeks

She has bitten my sis a few times :(
but not as bad as i thought, no plasters required .. with me yes!

Still growling now and again at sis, but last few days my sis has managed a few strokes of her back lol.

She will walk and rub her self around my sisters legs when it is feeding time.

Minnie (soon to be renamed Lollipop!! ) is now mixing with her 2 other cats. Leo wants to play but not sure yet, Lily just walks around her no viciousness apparently. All eating in same room now but Minnie sleeps on 3rd floor.

Or in the room where she stayed for 1st week or so, even though door is open.

Next month she will let Minnie out and once she starts going out does anyone think it may make her more friendly to my sis and her cats?
