Holmsey not well

He is a long black male that I I herited from my aunt when she died of cancer. He had lost weight and had terrible diarrhoea, so we went to the vets. Treated with parazole for giardiasis, metronidazole for whatever else, and on hills ID food. He put on 200g in two days! So he is responding well to treatment and we are not rushing to do further tests for now.

It was so sudden though...... He was melting away before my very eyes! He was always a long, thin cat. Vet said he would end up overweight if he continued to increase like that lol, but I said no way, Holmesy is the "long thin lad"...... His nickname.

Anyway..... I have had a lesson on cat diarrhoea description!!!!!! And Holmsey is doing well but still under close observation.

I am allergic to many types of medication, I have IBS and more serious illness, any medication with 'azole' and i have a very severe allergic reaction.

So if i have a upset tum all i can have is live natural yogurt and very bland food, ..besides perhaps a parasite,( which can months to be clear) could he have been pining for his mum your auntie?

Hope he soon starts to feel better, once spring is here next week, although snow on tops around here !

My aunt died 2 years ago so I doubt he is pining for her!
He is 10-12 years old. He is continuing to do well I think, but need a new weight-in!

I hope he's on the mend and starts to put the weight back on.

My elderly ex-stray Pugwash doubled his weight in about a month after I took him in (1.7kg to 3.5kg). He was skinny, crusty and habitually eating his own poo when he arrived. In spite of his thickened gut walls and malabsorption issues (and the loudest guts I've ever heard in a cat!) he has got a lot better on a prescription gastro-intestinal diet and has continued to put weight on. I am, at last, having to cut down his food intake before he gets too porky!

Crewella, Holmsey is doing ok..... Not great..... The Hill's prescription food was out of stock in the whole county. It was a week before I could get it and I was ringing everywhere but it just wasn't available. The sachets were, but he would rather eat rocks than them, so he needs the tins lol.
So he lost more weight..... I have the good food again now and his runs have stopped and he is back for a weigh-in on Thursday morning. I just have an awful feeling it is something bad...... Like bowel cancer......
