It was a lovely evening here tonight and the kitties were making the most of it. Bobby headed for the gate - off on a little adventure. So to distract him I picked some catmint. That got their attention.

I really hope this works this time. There are a couple of others. If this works I'll post them later. Believe me, it's not often you get all our kitties together like this. Amazing stuff, that catmint! :D

Hey - worked first time for me and since I'm computer illiterate and with the dreaded talktalk, plus my pc has a very warped sense of humour, I thought I'd no chance.

Lovely to see them all :D

Lovely to see them all chilling in the sunshine! :)

Nanny, I'm no expert, but you might need to download or specify something to play MP4 files. Could you see mine and Mark's?

Then that's the problem, Windows Media Player won't play MP4 files (the file extension is .mp4) and by the sound of it your 'pooter doesn't have anything running on it that does. Sorry.

Lovely!!!! The cat lady in me is going "AWWWWWW...... SNUGGLE THEIR TUMMIES"
The student vet nurse in me is going "PUT THEM ON A DIET"!!!!!

Some very pudgie tummies there lol, and I have always loved a squishy cat, but that is being beaten (sorry, EDUCATED!) out of me now ha ha ha!

I don't care what they teach us..... They aren't too fat so long as they can still wash their behinds!

Mind you, I'll be studying diabetes next year and might come back lecturing everyone ha ha! A few of my own are squishy too..... The older less active ones. I figure that if they get sick and stop eating, eh have reserves! That's my own excuse too of course, cos I am rather squishy myself!

Bobby is solid muscle, Purdy is a skinny Minnie, Willow has always had an 'apron but at 12 yrs she is starting to get a little middle-aged spread (aren't we all?) Tommy is not fat, he was very muscular but with the CKD he's gone sort of 'baggy'. The only real fatty is Grace, our resident hoover. She IS on a diet - it's just not working. Do they have a Fat Camp for cats?

I could feel you bridling from here, Sue! My Grumpy Nellie suffers from that - she does look 'curvy' but she's not overweight at all. The only one I've had to watch up till now has been Daz, but Pigwash is fast becoming .... erm ...... 'squishy'! :D

Helen, was it THAT obvious?

I'm going to try to post two more videos from last night.

Having trouble with the third one - it is quite long, but it shows Bob playing with a piece of wood and you can see how well he does with only one front leg.

Oh god I didn't mean to offend at all!!!!! I am so sorry......

I still prefer to see an animal with some meat on them (so to speak) despite what I am being taught in vet nursing school. I very much doubt the lecturers have seen the number of starving, emaciated cats that I have. I have absolutely no problem with a bit of pudge on a cat or dog or human at all!

My own aunt did have a very seriously obese cat, Rosie Jones. She had her going to weightloss clinics, on prescription food, the works. Trouble was, Rosie thought otherwise and begged from all the neighbours.... And got whole packets of ham! My aunt even put posters up in the area begging people to STOP feeding her. It was awful. Rosie couldn't even wash her own behind so my aunt had to clean her. Now THAT is wrong, but a bit of an apron??? I WISH my Minnie still had hers. She isn't thin, but lost her apron when she had mammary cancer a few years back. She survived with an op to remove the tumour, but never got pudgy again. It was from loving to squish her belly that I actually discovered the lump and saved her life!

Truly, I mean no offence, and think your cats are stunning!!!!!! Xxxx

Cussypat, don't worry, no offence taken! :) I think I'm a bit defensive because folks used to say Rosie Dog was fat. Ok she was half Labrador and they tend to middle age spread. But she really was 'big-boned'. She had big feet and very solid legs and a big mane of hair around her neck. If she had been thin she would have looked silly.

Tom and Willow look chunky from the side, but not from the top. In fact Tommy is on the skinny side, his hip bones show.

Gracie must have hip bones, though you'd never know. She's like a little barrel.

The others are not taking well to her diet. Bobby sits by an empty bowl, looking pathetic and meowing 'MUM, I'm STARVING!'

I had a friend who's cat, Oliver, was so fat he filled the corners of the cat flap! She could not understand it as she was very careful what she fed him. Turns out little begger was doing the rounds in four other houses. She got him a 'do not feed' collar and the weight started to come off.

Labs do tend to spread with age lol! I am glad you haven't taken offence, as it was certainly not meant.

I sometimes see animals on the street (often Labrador types!) who are just horribly overweight. It is like kids I suppose...... Owners/parents have a responsibility, but some just put weight on so easily and it can be TERRIBLY hard to keep tabs on them. I am overweight but not horribly so (I think!) and can dp physical things no problem. Same with some of the cats here. I had to slim Kara the dog down by hook or crook after she was diagnosed with not having a full range of hip motion by the vet. She used to be soooooo fat and is such a guzzler! Happy to say that her head now doesn't look too small for her body!

BTW..... My other dogs were pronounced "triangular" (Renny is an odd mix rescued from the street, and his shoulders are FAR wider than his hips, so I think the vet was a bit baffled!) and as having "love handles". Poppy is 12 now and has a bit of an apron and doesn't bounce as she used to.......
