Help/Advice Please

Post by Martin1960 »

I have made a grave mistake in my life which has resulted in two major problems. The first is the breakdown of my marriage and the second is that (to be quite frank) I am in all probability going to have to go to prison for a while. This would in all probability be for some months. The main problem I have is that where my wife has moved to she cannot have the cat and I have no other family who can help. I am desperate to try and find either a charity/organisation/individual who would be able to look after/foster my cat while I am away. The last thing I want to do is have to permanently re-home my cat.

I have tried asking the RSPCA, Bluecross,The Cats Protection League,my vets and any local shelter/organisation I have been able to find on Google. I have until the second week in June to try and sort this matter out and wondered if you could offer any help/advice to me on this. I live in Crawley in West Sussex.

I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.

Regards

Martin

Fostering would be the best solution, but if all else fails, a cattery may be willing to look after him for a couple of months. Some have large pens suitable for long term tenants. Trouble is June/July is not the best time for finding space in a cattery and cost could be c£1,000.

There are some shelters that will temporarily foster cats at a lower rate than a cattery, and use the funds raised to support the rescue cats, or they might know of a fosterer who would be willing to help. All I can suggest is that you keep ringing round and emailing. Good luck.

It is nice that, with the troubles you are facing (for whatever reasons), you are putting the welfare of you cat first. I really hope you can find a good temporary home for him/her. Helen's idea is something I would persue. Good luck.
